Smith Transport, Mac Hill team up in 2007

Mooresville, N.C. – Mac Hill Motorsports is pleased to announce that Smith Transport Inc. will be a major associate sponsor for the 2007 racing season, supporting the Nos. 65 and 56 Chevys in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series.

The Roaring Spring, Pa., company has been involved with stock-car racing for several years, said Senior Vice President Bob Becker, and the relationships Smith Transport has built prove beneficial in a variety of ways. Race tickets, for example, are often used to entertain clients or donated to charity for use in fundraising. The connection with racing is also a great marketing tool when the company is recruiting truck drivers.

To help Smith Transport with these efforts, Mac Hill team owner Jack McNelly said his organization, including drivers Dange Hanniford and A.J. Frank, will do everything it can to promote the business.

“I am very grateful for their help,” McNelly said.

Incorporated in 1982, Smith Transport provides transportation and logistic services to private and public sector customers. The company, owned and operated by Barry Smith, is supported by 1,500 employees, 1,000 trucks, 3,000 trailers, and 2 million square feet of warehouse space.

Smith Transport also participates in the U.S. Army’s Partnership for Youth Success Program, which connects soldiers with potential employers prior to military training for employment upon completion of service. The partnership provides priority hiring status to qualified soldiers participating in the PaYS program and ensures that their military service time counts towards years of service with Smith Transport. It’s just another way that the company is “dedicated to excellence” for its customers, its employees and the community.
